Loy Krathong Festival (Lantern Festival) 2016

The Loy Krathong festival 2016 is celebrated by people who live in Thailand. The celebration is so festive, so it is better that you come here when the festival is being held. There are some unique things that can be seen during this festival. For example, one day after the sky lantern release, there is still another thing people do. They will go to the rivers and then place lanterns on the water surface. The purpose of this act is to honor Buddha. The center of attention is not only the lanterns. As you walk by the river, there are fireworks and parades.

Another celebration coincides with Loy Krathong Festival 2016. Hence, if you want to visit Thailand, then you can extend your holiday there, so that you can see the Yi Peng festival as well. Do you know what Loi Krathong means? According to the local language, Loi Krathong means decorative floats. What people place in the river is the core of this festival. Are you intent on visiting the country especially Chiang Mai? Remember that the sky lantern release is one of the most important attractions here. It lasts for 3 days throughout Thailand, so whenever you are when the festival is taking place, you will still be able to witness that.

The first day of the three is the day of sky lantern release. While it is held in various places, you can go straight to Mae Jo University which is located in Chiang Mai. It is actually one of the best places to see this festival in person. On day 2, the festival still continues and it is officially celebrated across the nation. Even if you are not in Chiang Mai, you will still have a chance to take part in the celebration. You can even participate in the lantern release. If you want to be part of that, then you can go to Nawarat Bridge as there people come together to launch this festival.

Make sure you’ve arrived there before 18:30 as the place is usually very crowded when it is about to start. The River Pink is the name of the river where people set their lanterns free. This is really a fun thing to do, so you should not miss it. The main show starts before the dawn and the peak is from 19:00 to 22:00. Besides lanterns, you can also bring fireworks and set them off with people who dance in joy that night. As the night comes, the area will be more crowded and noisier, but it is the fun side of the festival. On day 3, there is the Loi Krathong parade. You can watch that, too.
